Why an Arabic website should start from Arabic, not translation

Many websites are designed in English first and then translated, and the flaws show at first glance: misplaced buttons, arrows pointing the wrong way, headings that break onto a second line.
Designing Arabic-first means right-to-left is the default, and layout, reading order and motion are all built on it. The English version is then built as a full language, not a mirror of the first.
Type matters too: Arabic fonts need taller line height and a clearer size than Latin ones, and letter-spacing should never be applied to them.
Start with a simple question: who is your main audience? If it is Arabic-speaking, design for them first, then add other languages.
